Notorious Hair Charity Auction Featured in Calgary Herald

May 5, 2020 (Calgary, AB)

The moment the Province of Alberta announced that hair salons would potentially re-open, Josh Taylor from Notorious Hair was immediately flooded with calls, text messages and emails from clients hoping to book and appointment as quickly as possible. “My phone has been blowing up ever since the announcement was made. It is a wonderful reminder that people care about local businesses like ours,” says Taylor. “I want to pay this community support forward by raising research funds to help kids and families dealing with cancer.”

Four appointments are now up for auction at www.elevateauctions.com/NotoriousHair, two haircut appointments and two colour and cut appointments. In the spirit of supporting local, Elevate Auctions was selected to host the online auction, another Calgary-based company. The auction will close on May 13th at 12:00PM, with winners being notified immediately after. The highest bids will get their choice of appointment times the following day. All proceeds, less the cost of running the auction and colour products, will be donated to support research in pediatric psychosocial oncology and survivorship at the University of Calgary. No fees will be going to Josh Taylor / Notorious Hair for the appointments.

“The past couple of months have been stressful for everyone and this feels like a good way to re-open in a positive way,” says Taylor.

Notorious Hair, like all Alberta salons, is working hard to re-open in a way that keeps both clients and staff healthy, including new measures like wearing masks, staggering appointments and maintaining social distance, as much as possible while still giving amazing styles to clients.

Josh Taylor opened Notorious Hair in 2014 and has been in his Inglewood location at 1335 9th Avenue SE since 2016. Offering complete styling services, Notorious is known for its eclectic, throwback design and lighthearted approach.

The Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary is raising funds for a research position that will help identify and develop new interventions to improve the quality of life of pediatric cancer survivors and their families so that they can be healthier, happier members of society.
